April 29. The lateral floral buds have opened and the extended stigmas of the hermaphroditic flowers are receptive. The anthers have not yet begun to shed their pollen.

May 10. Pollen has been shed since May 4. Most stigmas have begun to necrotize and the terminal leaf buds now begin to open.

May 25. The anthesis is over and the ovaries have started to grow. Leafing is almost complete.
